Singapore, 24 June 2010 – Her World, Singapore’s No 1. women’s magazine, celebrates its 50th birthday in July with a special anniversary collector’s edition.
The magazine will hit newsstands on June 30, 2010. Although Her World has been celebrating its 50th anniversary since the beginning of this year with events like the launch of the Her World Glass House in March and its 50th anniversary and Woman of The Year Gala Dinner in April, July is especially significant because the first issue of Her World was launched in July 1960.
For the first time ever, the July 2010 issue has done away with the magazine’s usual celebrity or model cover girl, and gone for a sleek gold cover featuring the number “50” stamped on an eye-catching hologram foil.
The 528-page issue features a mix of special anniversary stories and regular magazine columns. Elisabeth Gwee, editor of Her World, says: “We could have spent a lot of time reminiscing about the good old days. Like how we encouraged women as early as the 1960s to get wired into the computer revolution, or how we launched the modelling careers of Fann Wong and Zoe Tay when they were just teenagers, and how we were the first magazine in 2001 to create an annual Beauty Awards to honour the best beauty launches. But we didn’t want this issue to be a retrospective. Because why look to the past when there are so many new and exciting things to focus on in the present and future?”
Stories in this issue celebrate the now – such as the Her World’s fifth annual Best Dressed list featuring 28 women and men, including the youngest-ever sharp dresser aged 7.
