Singapore, 7 October 2010 – Following the successful debut last year, the popular Shin Min Arm Wrestling Challenge (新明角力竞赛) is back for more action from 8 October 2010. Organised by Singapore Press Holdings' evening daily Shin Min Daily News (新明日报) and presented by Carlsberg Special Brew (皇帽皇啤酒), this 3-week challenge is for men aged 21 years and above.
There will be two preliminary rounds on 8 October and 15 October. The overall champion will be crowned at the Grand Finals on 22 October.
In the preliminary rounds, competitors in each of the two categories ("70kg and below" category, and "above 70kg" category) will be vying for a place in the Grand Finals, where one of eight finalists will emerge the winner of his category.
More than $10,000 in cash prizes are at stake. The winner of each category will win $3000 in cash, a trophy as well as Carlsberg products.
Other than the battle of strength between contestants, the stage will also come alive with performances by popular Getai artistes like Wang Lei (王雷), the Bao Bei Sisters (宝贝姐妹) and Liu Xinling (刘心玲).
There will be fun games such as the Carlberg Punch Machine for the audiences. They can also challenge themselves by lifting two Gigantic Carlsberg Special Brew Cans which which weigh 40kg and 100kg.*
Ladies in the audience will be invited on stage to take part in the special "Ladies Challenge" and pit themselves against one another.
The Shin Min Arm Wrestling Challenge 2010 events will be hosted by popular Radio 100.3 DJs Huang Wenhong (黄文鸿) and Anna Lim (林安娜).
