SPH Appoints New Board Director

Singapore, 22 October 2010 – Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) has appointed Ms Chong Siak Ching as an independent director to its Board with effect from today.

Ms Chong is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascendas Pte Ltd, and sits on the boards of Ascendas Pte Ltd and its subsidiaries. Ascendas specialises in developing, managing and marketing IT, science, business, industrial & logistics parks, hi-tech facilities, office and retail space with a presence in 10 countries across Asia including Singapore, China, India and Korea. Ms Chong is also the Deputy Chairman of Spring Singapore, the enterprise development agency of Singapore, and Chairman of IE Singapore's Network India Steering Committee.

In addition, Ms Chong is a Council Member of the Singapore Business Federation and was previously JTC Corporation's Deputy Chief Executive Officer. She has in-depth knowledge of the regional real estate market and extensive experience in business space management.

Ms Chong holds a Bachelor of Estate Management (Honours), a Masters in Business Administration from the National University of Singapore and has also completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. She is registered as a licensed valuer.

Ms Chong was named Outstanding CEO of the Year at the Singapore Business Awards in 2009. She was also conferred the National University of Singapore (NUS) Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 2009, and the NUS Distinguished Alumni Award by the Faculty of Architecture and Building Management in 1999.

Dr Tony Tan, Chairman of the SPH Board, said: “On behalf of the Board, I welcome Siak Ching as a new member. With her experience and qualifications, she is eminently qualified to contribute to the Board and the Company's growth.”

In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations Radio 100.3 in Mandarin and 91.3FM in English.

Events and Outdoor Advertising
SPH’s events subsidiary Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s leading Digital Out-of-Home advertising company.

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, has also developed a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road. The Clementi Mall, SPH's latest retail mall, will be operational in 2011.
