Sphere Conferences Partners Myanmar Government to Organise First and Most Comprehensive Hospitality and Tourism Trade Show

Singapore, 7 February 2014 – Sphere Conferences, the conference arm of Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) today announced its partnership with the Myanmar Tourism Federation, to organize the inaugural Myanmar Hotels, Food & Beverage and Travel Trade Show from 17 to 19 February 2014 in Yangon, Myanmar. The event is supported by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Myanmar achieved its recording breaking numbers of 1 million visitors in 2012. The numbers doubled in 2013 with more than 2.04 million visitors. Sky-rocketing hotel prices illustrate the insufficient supply of the hospitality industry. Myanmar will continue to attract more visitors and being the host for ASEAN Tourism Forum in 2015, it is timely for the country to revamp its infrastructure and continue attracting foreign investments into the country. 

The Myanmar Hotels, Food & Beverage and Travel Trade Show will be held in two different venues. The Hotel Solutions Show and the Food & Beverage Show are co-located at the Myanmar Convention Center. The Myanmar Hospitality and Tourism Conference, and the Myanmar Travel Trade Show will be held at the Traders Hotel.

The Myanmar Hotel Solutions Show and Food & Beverage Show target the local hospitality and food industry as the premier platform for all their procurement and sourcing needs. From equipment and supplies to consultancy services and technology, the exhibition will be a one-stop event to meet sourcing needs of local Myanmar. 

The Myanmar Travel Trade Show serves as an opportunity for local travel value chain to meet with international buyers from the MICE, leisure and corporate travel industry. The buy-sell platform is specially designed for the local exhibitors to meet suppliers face-to-face and market new travel products that are in the Myanmar market. 

The Myanmar Hospitality and Tourism Conference, a C-level strategic 2-day discussion, is co-located with the Myanmar Travel Show. The 2nd edition of Myanmar Hospitality and Tourism Conference promises to be yet another lively discussion of real opportunities and challenges surrounding Myanmar’s tourism development.

Events and Out-of-Home Advertising

SPH’s events arm Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions as well as large scale conferences in Singapore and the region. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its digital out-of-home platform SPHMBO.
