SPH iink Awards 2014 celebrates the imaginative!

Singapore, 4 May 2014 - The tenth edition of one of Singapore’s biggest advertising awards, the SPH iink Awards, will celebrate the kaleidoscope of creative rebels, dreamers and thinkers who inject vitality and excitement into the local advertising scene. 

Organised by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), the SPH iink Awards 2014, with its theme Celebrate the Imaginative, is seeking to reward the Big Idea that best demonstrates the use of SPH’s spectrum of media platforms comprising Print, Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home.

All creative and media agencies, advertisers and other advertising-related organisations are invited to submit their advertisements published in any of SPH’s 19 newspaper titles and other media platforms for this year’s Awards.

SPH iink Awards' nine categories include: 
A1: Print Single – English
A2: Print Campaign – English
A3: Print Single/Campaign – Chinese
A4: Print Classified/Recruitment/Notice
A5: Print Creative Media Buy
B: Digital
C: Radio
D: Out-of-Home
E: SPH IS ON Campaign

The SPH iink Awards was originally launched to honour the best print advertisements and the creative people behind them.  In 2012, three new categories – Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home – were introduced to recognise creative and effective advertisements on SPH's other media platforms.  Formerly known as the SPH Ink Awards, it was renamed the SPH iink Awards in 2012 – with the additional “i” representing “Integration”.

To be eligible for the ‘SPH IS ON Campaign’ category [integrated/cross-media category], entries must have appeared in at least one other SPH marketing platform besides newspapers.  SPH’s comprehensive range of marketing platforms includes more than 100 magazine titles, three radio stations, out-of-home screens, as well as digital media across web, tablet & mobile devices.

Points will be allocated to the winners and finalists of each category.  The entry that scores the highest number of points from the judges will be named the overall Grand Prix winner. The highest scoring agencies across all categories will be crowned the iink Creative Agency Of The Year and the iink Media Agency Of The Year, respectively.

A successful advertisement or campaign must connect well with its audience.  Shortlisted advertisements from quarterly-run Readers’ Choice Contests will be put up for readers to vote for their winner of the overall Readers’ Choice Award.

Mr Leslie Fong, Senior Executive Vice-President of SPH’s Marketing Division, said: "The SPH iink Awards is the only award that recognises the effectiveness and importance of the tripartite relationship comprising creative agencies, media agencies, and advertisers. We are proud that the SPH iink Awards, now into our tenth iteration, has grown to be one of the biggest, recognised and most important advertising awards in Singapore.”

Entry Submission and Prizes

To be eligible for the SPH iink Awards, entries must have appeared in at least one of SPH’s media platforms during the period of 1 June 2013 to 31 May 2014

Registration opens on 5 May 2014 and the submission deadline is 31 May 2014.

The winners of SPH iink Awards 2014 will be announced at a gala event in August.  The winning advertisers from Categories A (A1 - A5) and E, as well as the Grand Prix winner, will each receive a full page advertisement in either The Straits Times or Lianhe Zaobao.  

The winning advertisers from Categories B to D (Digital, Radio and Out-of-Home) will each receive $30,000 worth of ads / digital airtime in their respective media category.

In addition, the Creative Agency that wins the Grand Prix will bag a cash prize of $8,000.  If the Grand Prix winner is from Category A5 (Print Creative Media Buy) or Category E (SPH IS ON Campaign), the media agency involved will also win $8,000 in cash.

SPH has a 20 per cent stake in MediaCorp TV Holdings Pte Ltd, which operates free-to-air channels 5, 8 and U, and a 40 per cent stake in MediaCorp Press Limited, which publishes the free newspaper, Today. 

Events and Out-of-Home Advertising

SPH’s events arm Sphere Exhibits organises innovative consumer and trade events and exhibitions as well as large scale conferences in Singapore and the region. In addition, SPH has ventured into out-of-home (OOH) advertising through its digital out-of-home platform SPHMBO. 


SPH REIT is a Singapore-based REIT established principally to invest, directly or indirectly, in a portfolio of income-producing real estate which is used primarily for retail purposes in Asia-Pacific, as well as real estate-related assets. SPH REIT is managed by SPH REIT Management Pte. Ltd., which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings Limited. 

The initial portfolio of SPH REIT comprises the following two high quality and well located commercial properties in Singapore:

· Paragon, a premier upscale retail mall and medical suite/office property, well known for its upscale mall housing many luxury brands, located in the heart of Orchard Road; and
· The Clementi Mall, a mid-market suburban mall located in the centre of Clementi town, an established residential estate in the west of Singapore. 

The Seletar Mall is SPH's latest retail development and is expected to open at the end of 2014. This property is a potential asset to be injected into SPH REIT.
