herworldPLUS presents First Singapore Street Style Awards

- Search for Singapore’s Street Style stars!

Singapore, 4 June 2014 ‐ herworldPLUS, Singapore’s leading women’s online network for fashion, shopping and beauty, is on a mission to find and crown the best-dressed on Singapore’s streets- with the launch of its inaugural Singapore Street Style Awards, that will run from now to August 2014. 

There will be two main winners chosen by the judges ‒ Best Guy and Best Girl ‒ plus an additional winner chosen by popular vote via social media, as well as a number of Special Prizes ‒ the ALDO Style Award chosen by the fashion experts at ALDO, the main presenter of the campaign; the Best Hair Award chosen by the hair experts at Jean Yip Salon; and the That’s Hot Award chosen by the DJs at HOT FM 91.3, supporter of the event.

The top two winners will walk away with $4,000 worth of prizes each while the rest will each walk away with prizes worth between $500 and $2,000.

herworldPLUS is confident that despite the hot weather and public perception of sloppiness, Singapore’s fashionistas have certainly got street style.

The public agrees based on a herworldPLUS' survey*. Slightly over half of respondents responded 'yes' when asked 'Do you think Singaporeans are fashionable'. Admittedly, almost half surveyed said no, but most of them blamed the lack of style on the steaming hot weather. Almost everyone, however, did agree that Singapore’s women are far more fashionable than men.

Everyone of all ages, shapes and styles is invited to enter the Singapore Street Style Awards either by using the #sgstreetstyleawards hashtag on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook; or by uploading their images to the herworldPLUS Street Style Awards website at [].

The stylish team of judges includes one of Asia’s most sought-after fashion event producers and creative director, Daniel Boey; Her World magazine’s Fashion Editor, Patrick Sin; and herworldPLUS Editor, Niki Bruce, who is known for her obsessive love of shoes, blue hair and fierce support of the Singapore fashion industry.

Niki Bruce, herworldPLUS Editor said: “Gone are the days of flip-flops and berms on Orchard Road. Singapore’s population is fashionable and educated; they know the difference between high street and luxury brands, they shop the trends and also, more importantly, can interpret international trends for the Singapore environment. I see interestingly dressed people every day on the streets of Singapore, and I’m sure we’ll be able to discover some real Singapore Street Style stars.”

herworldPLUS Street Style Awards open for submissions from now. Top 10 finalists will be selected in late June for public voting and the overall winners will be announced in August 2014.
