10th edition of Health & You Exhibition offers more health tips and great bargains

Singapore, 13 August 2014 – Health & You Exhibition, the annual health and wellness exhibition jointly organised by The Straits Times - Mind Your Body and Lianhe Zaobao - LOHAS, marks its 10th anniversary this year. 

Health & You 2014, with the theme “School of Health”, will be held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre Halls 401 – 403 on 16 and 17 August, from 9am to 9pm. Admission is free. 

Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, will be the Guest-of-Honour for the Health & You Exhibition 2014 Opening Ceremony, which will be held on 16 August at 8.30 am.

Health & Youth 2014 is an exhibition for all health and wellness enthusiasts. It offers the widest range of product options, lots of attractive deals and engaging activities for visitors of all ages. Health-conscious visitors can find leading health, nutrition and wellness products and services all under one roof. There are also various health checks available for visitors who are interested, some of which are complimentary – such as diagnostic hearing tests and free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation. 

This year’s Health & You Exhibition is set to bring visitors more exciting activities and product offerings designed around a school concept.

The exhibition hall will be categorised into 4 Thematic Zones, namely the Recess Zone, the CCA Zone, the Tuition Room and the Play Time Zone. 
  • Recess Zone  

Visitors can find products such as health food, organic foods, health supplements, beauty and organic/natural personal care products, amongst many others.There will be great bargains, irresistible deals and lots of opportunities for samplings and trials.

  • CCA Zone
An activity area where visitors can test their fitness level at a mini NAPFA Circuit (Sit up, Stand Broad Jump, Sit and Reach, Inclined pull-up, Shuttle Run).
  • Tuition Room
Visitors can enrich their health knowledge with seminars and talks on topics such as “Cataract, Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy”, “Women’s Health”, “Knee, back and neck pain management”, etc. Admission is free. 
  • Play Time Zone
This is a zone where children and parents can have a go at the Arts and Crafts Corner (activities include sand-art making, coloring and drawing) or at the Free Play Corner where they can try rope skipping, hopping in gunny sacks or simply try out different types of ball games. 

Stage Highlights

“Kids Got Talent” – Sunday, 17 August, 3pm to 4.30pm.

1st prize : $1,200 cash 
2nd prize : $1,000 cash 

3rd prize : $800 cash 
Consolation prize: 3 consolation prize winners will receive $200 each  

The Kids Got Talent contest drew more than 50 teams and an audition was held on 10 August to shortlist the best 22 teams for the semi-final happening on Saturday, 16 August. About a dozen teams will qualify for the finals on Sunday.

Besides the “Kids Got Talent” competition, there will be plenty of games and prizes to be won. There is also a Zumba Party by 1Fiesta where all are welcome to take part and groove to the music at5.30pm daily at the main stage. 

Cooking Demonstration and HPB Efforts
There will also be cooking demonstrations at Health & You 2014, and over at the Health Promotion Board’s (HPB) booth, there will be opportunities for visitors to sign up for the One Million KG Challenge – the first nation-wide weight management programme and the I Quit programme, which is a national anti-smoking social movement that adopts a community-based but personalised approach to build a network of support that helps smokers make their first or next attempt to quit smoking, as well as the Healthy Dining Programme.

At Health & You 2014, the screening segment will feature interactive exhibits to help visitors find out the screening tests that are suitable for them as well as how often these tests should be done. Eligible participants can also collect free home-based test kits (faecal immunochemical test) to check for colorectal cancer. 

Visitors also stand to win great prizes in the Shopper’s Draw and other contests.

Shoppers can take home a high-quality thermos flask and a specially designed Health & You non-woven tote bag. In the bag, they will find fantastic offers by exhibitors in the Healthy Savings Coupon Booklet which offers great savings even after the event, redeemable at the exhibitors’ retail shops.
