“Seriously Man” named best topical blog at Singapore Blog Awards 2014

Singapore, 15 August 2014 – Winners of the seventh Singapore Blog Awards were announced today at the awards ceremony held at *SCAPE, graced by Guest of Honour, Ms Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and information, and Ministry of Education.

Organised by (, Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) leading bilingual news and entertainment portal, the Singapore Blog Awards honour independent content producers who create and curate content that make for fun, informative, and insightful reads.

The winning bloggers in the nine main award categories each won a trophy custom-designed by Singapore cultural medallion winner Mr. Tan Swie Hian, as well as a 5D4N sponsored trip to Cebu and Bohol, the Philippines, among other prize. 

This year’s notable winners include:

Best Topical Blog winner – Seriously Man | Team SM
In their own words, the team behind Seriously Man blog is “Just a bunch of formerly straight-laced, insipid, unattractive, uninspired Average Joes who self-helped themselves to spiffy gentlemanhood.”

While the blog is relatively new (started in May 2013), it provides quintessential content for the modern new age guy, covering topics from fashion do’s and don’ts, “playbook” tips for dealing with the opposite sex, and tongue-in-cheek commentaries on issues from a dude’s perspective.

Best Food Blog winner – Johor Kaki Food and Travel Stories | Tony Johor Kaki

Tony Johor Kaki’s blog is the winner of Best Food Blog for the second year running, providing readers with unbiased reviews of Johor’s food finds from a Singaporean’s point of view.  The 54 year-old blogger visits Johor Bahru at least twice a week.

Winners for the Singapore Blog Awards Judges’ Choice categories were determined by a combination of online voting (30%) and professional scoring (70%) by a panel of independent judges appointed by Winners of the Advertisers’ Choice categories were determined by scores from presenting sponsor Panasonic (70%) and online votes (30%), while winners of the Followers’ Choice categories were determined entirely by public votes.

There were a total of nine Judges’ Choice categories, three Followers’ Choice categories and two Advertisers’ Choice categories.
