Straits Times Press launches 2 new titles at the Singapore Writers Festival 2014

Singapore, 3 November 2014 – Straits Times Press (STP), the book publishing arm of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), will be launching two new titles during the upcoming Singapore Writers Festival. 

The new titles and their launch dates as follow :

  • "The Wholefood Kitchen" Wednesday 5 November at 7.00pm; SMU Events Pavilion, SMU Campus Green
  • "The Quah Kim Song story" - Friday, 7 November at 7.00pm; SMU Festival Pavilion, SMU Campus Green

"The Wholefood Kitchen" is a 212-page book for those who want to achieve the goal of smart and healthy eating through a powerful plant-based diet, which provides powerful protection against chronic disease.  It covers a delightful range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free recipes that promise flavourful creations packed with nutrients. The recipes are creative, imaginative and family-friendly, including tempting treats from seasonal thirst quenchers to wholesome soups and stews, as well as satisfying snacks, fragrant whole-grain bakes and irresistible desserts. The author of the book is nutrition and fitness expert Ms Mayura Mohta who is also founder of Healthfriend, a social enterprise that conducts nutrition workshops cum cooking demonstrations to promote wise eating habits in the local community. 

"The Quah Kim Song Story" is a 148-page book about football in Singapore and the region, as told in Kim Song's colourful football vernacular, which he jointly authored with freelance journalist and communications strategist Jacintha Stephens. He represented Singapore between 1968 to 1983 as a striker in the national team and earned nicknames such as "Mercurial", "The Speed Demon" and "Fearless". The book also delves deep into how the Quah family left their mark on the local football scene, with nine of the 11 siblings, including Kim Song himself, who represented Singapore in the sport. Quah Kim Song shared his anecdotes and experiences, particularly on the football pitch, as well as his lively sketches of crucial games, teammates, coaches and competitors, making this a rich memoir of the Kallang Roar era.
