SPH fulfils over 300 wishes for Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift Project

Singapore, 9 December 2014 – In celebration of Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) 30th anniversary this year, its management and staff have adopted and fulfilled more than 300 wishes for the Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift Project.

The wishes came from both elderly and children beneficiaries from four charity organisations, namely AWWA ReadyCare, Bethany Methodist Nursing Home, Club Rainbow and Fei Yue Family Service Centre (Yew Tee).

The oldest beneficiary was Mdm Tan Ah Huey, 99. She is from Bethany Methodist Nursing Home and wished for a blouse.  Nur Qalisya Binte Muhammad Sulaimi was the youngest beneficiary. Born last year, she is from Club Rainbow and has asked for diapers this Christmas.

The wishes ranged from household appliances, stationery, diapers and milk powder to clothes, toys and toiletries.  In addition, food items and groceries were also donated to the beneficiaries.  The total value of items amounted to more than $18,000.

The Boys' Brigade aims to fulfil the wishes of more than 35,800 beneficiaries this Christmas season through its Share-A-Gift Project. The nationwide charity project which aims to bring festive cheer to the less privileged is held from Nov 20 to Dec 17.

Apart from the adoption of wishes, SPH also organised a year end party for 83 beneficiaries and their families and caregivers from Club Rainbow at the SPH News Centre Auditorium today. SPH staff volunteers and some senior management members, as well as employees who adopted the wishes, joined in to spread festive cheer to the beneficiaries with food and games. The staff volunteers also presented the adopted gifts to the attendees.

This is the eighth consecutive year which SPH has participated in the charity project.

The event is an SPH Cares Project organised by SPH Corporate Communications & CSR Division in collaboration with the Boys' Brigade.
