SPH’s adopted charities first to watch movie at The Seletar Mall’s Shaw Theatres

Singapore, 15 December 2014 - Staff volunteers of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) will be bringing about 100 beneficiaries from three charities to a movie screening at The Seletar Mall’s Shaw Theatres on Thursday, 18 December.  The group will be among the first to experience the new theatre on the opening day.

The SPH Charity Movie Screening is organised by the SPH Staff Volunteers Club and the Corporate Communications and CSR division, as part of SPH’s 30th anniversary celebrations and in conjunction with The Seletar Mall's opening end of last month.  The mall at Sengkang West is a joint venture between SPH and United Engineers Developments Pte Ltd (UED).

The 100 beneficiaries and caregivers from Child @Street 11, Club Rainbow and MINDS will be watching this December’s family blockbuster “Paddington”.  The movie tickets and popcorn sets are sponsored by Shaw Organisation as part of its CSR initiative. SPH will treat the beneficiaries and caregivers to lunch at the mall after the movie.

Earlier this month, on 9 December, SPH hosted a year-end party for 83 beneficiaries from Club Rainbow at the SPH News Centre. This was part of the company’s annual collaboration with the Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift Project. More than 300 wishes were adopted by SPH staff this year, who also contributed about $500 worth of groceries for the Boys' Brigade's beneficiaries.

Among other charitable activities this year, SPH brought 110 beneficiaries from its adopted charities to the Singapore Gardens Festival at Gardens by the Bay on 22 August.
