Singapore, 5 October 2018 - The Singapore Women's Weekly, one of Singapore's most popular women's magazines published by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd, announced the winners for this year's Great Women Of Our Time Awards at an awards presentation cum cocktail party held at Sinfonia Ristorante this evening.

Ms Indranee Rajah, Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Education, was the event's Guest-of-Honour.

Into its 13th year, the Great Women Of Our Time Awards is an annual initiative that honours the outstanding achievements of the nation's most inspiring women from six fields: Arts & Media; Design & Style; Education & Public Service; Health, Sports & Wellness; Finance & Commerce; and Science & Technology.

Among the winners, some have also received international recognition. Arts & Media winner Rachel Heng has had her debut novel, Suicide Club, published in both the US and the UK. Local designer and fashion label owner Goh Ling Ling, who is the winner in the Design & Style category, embodies female entrepreneurship and brings local creativity to greater heights with her exquisite designs and timeless style. Sports, Health & Wellness winner Vanessa Paranjothy's indomitable spirit is an inspiration to all, when she pioneered the social start-up Freedom Cups, helping women in underprivileged communities and making it to the Forbes 30 under 30 List in 2017. More details of the winners for each category can be found in Appendix A attached.

Barbara Koh, Editor-in-Chief of The Singapore Women's Weekly, said: “Each year, The Singapore Women’s Weekly scopes out and celebrates women in Singapore who are making a difference in their respective fields. These are women who are empowered, successful and strong. They come from diverse backgrounds, but the qualities these trailblazers all possess are passion, smarts and heart. I congratulate this year’s 18 worthy nominees.”
