Staff recycle, shop and learn about eco-living at SPH Earth Day 2019

Singapore, 17 April 2019 - SPH Earth Day, an annual environmental awareness event organised by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), will return on 22 April at the SPH News Centre Auditorium from 11am to 2pm.

The annual event highlights various environmental issues to the staff through different formats, including educational talks and movie screenings in the past years. This edition of SPH Earth Day comprises a textiles donation drive, upcycling workshops and an eco-bazaar.

The goal is to collect a total of 350kg worth of textiles in celebration of SPH’s 35th anniversary. The textiles will be collected by Greensquare, a non-profit organisation that provides textile recycling services to households and organisations in Singapore.

This year, nine vendors will be selling a variety of merchandise that promotes eco-living, plant-based food as well as natural soaps and scents.

These vendors are: Greensquare, Bamboo Straw Girl, Bunny Trading, Sol Plus, Freedom Cups, Quorn, Well Dressed Salad Bar & Cafe, abillionveg and Souley Green.

There are also upcycling workshops for staff to turn their old tee shirts into tote bags, and a short sharing by 10-year-old Oliver Chua Rui, who is eco-ambassador of the Mother Earth Toastmaster Club to spread the sustainability message to all.

SPH Earth Day 2019 is jointly organised by SPH’s Corporate Communications & CSR Division and Greensquare.
