SPH Charity Carnival 2019 raises funds for 35 charities to mark SPH's 35th anniversary

Singapore, 9 May 2019 – The SPH Charity Carnival will return on 14 May 2019 with a record 35 stalls to mark SPH's 35th anniversary this year.
The event, into its eighth consecutive year, provides a platform for various SPH divisions and subsidiaries, as well as local charities, to raise awareness and funds for various charitable causes.
Out of the 35 stalls, 20 will be manned by external local charities which will be selling an assortment of merchandise, handicrafts and baked goods, mostly made by beneficiaries.

These 20 external charities are:

5. AWWA Senior Activity Centre
6. CARE Singapore
7. Care Corner Singapore
8. Cat Welfare Society
9. Club Rainbow (Singapore)
10. Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS)
11. Down Syndrome Association
12. Feiyue Community Services - Threads of Courage
13. Guide Dogs Singapore
14. Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH)
15. Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC)
16. SPCA Singapore
17. Sunlove Abode for Intellectually-Infirmed
18. Tamar Village
19. The Salvation Army

Ms Joyz Tan, Senior Manager of Fei Yue Family Service Centre, said: "Threads of Courage, a Fei Yue Family Service Centre project, is honoured to be part of the SPH Charity Carnival for the first time! Through the sales at the carnival, we are able to continue to empower more low-income individuals to earn a supplementary income."   
Mr Ricky Yeo, President and founder of Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD), said: "ASD has been a long-time supporter of the SPH Charity Carnival. We are encouraged by the strong support from SPH staff and are glad to be given the opportunity again to raise funds for our charity this year."

In addition to the 20 external charity organisations, 15 SPH divisions and subsidiaries will also be setting up booths to sell food, handicrafts, and game stalls at the carnival to raise funds for their adopted charities.

Besides SPH Charity Carnival, SPH has also launched the SPH 35th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign - Double the Love, in partnership with Community Chest. The campaign, which runs from 7 May to 31 July 2019, aims to raise funds for children with special needs, vulnerable seniors and disadvantaged families. SPH and SPH Foundation will provide dollar-for-dollar matching donation (capped at $350,000) for every public donation received through the campaign. 

Other activities and promotions to mark SPH's 35th anniversary include subscription deals and a birthday concert at Paragon's atrium on 4 Aug. There will also be a new SPH35 - Panasonic Schools Challenge and a special 3.5km Fun Run at The Straits Times Run 2019 on 29 Sep.    
SPH Charity Carnival is jointly organised by SPH’s Corporate Communications & CSR Division and the SPH Staff Volunteers Club.
