Zaobao.sg launches Zaobao Rewards programme for its readers

Singapore, 14 April 2020 --- Starting 15 April, zaobao.sg readers can participate in the Zaobao Rewards programme for free by reading and sharing news and videos through the zaobao.sg mobile app.

Upon successful registration and log in, readers can receive points for every news article read and videos watched and shared. Readers can use the points to redeem gifts including bubble tea vouchers, NTUC FairPrice vouchers, as well as a chance to spin the lucky wheel to win more attractive prizes such as the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (worth $1398), tenant vouchers from Paragon and The Seletar Mall and more.

To participate, readers need to download the newest versions of zaobao.sg iPhone app via App Store or Android app via Google Play Store. Both zaobao.sg subscribers and non-subscribers will be able to participate in this campaign for free.

Direct digital subscribers of Lianhe Zaobao, Lianhe Wanbao, Shin Min Daily News and zaobao.sg with mySPH accounts are automatically enrolled in the Zaobao Rewards programme. They will be able to enjoy more benefits and accumulate points faster than other readers. They can log in to their mySPH account on the zaobao.sg app to start accumulating points.

Non-subscribers and subscribers who do not have mySPH accounts can click on the gift icon in the app homepage to register for free, log in the app and start accumulating points. Readers who are not logged in will not earn points. In addition, reading or sharing ePaper articles will not earn points.

Readers can check their point balance by looking for the gift icon that appears with each in-app article and video. When readers accumulate enough points to redeem a gift, they can click on the gift icon to enter the Zaobao Rewards in-app page and select the gift they want to redeem.

According to figures from media measurement and analytics company Comscore, zaobao.sg is the Chinese news website with the most monthly pageviews and unique visitors in Singapore. According to Google Analytics, the average monthly unique users of zaobao.sg mobile phone app and website between August 2019 and March 2020 are 160,000 and 2.56 million respectively.

Ms Han Yong May, Editor of Chinese Media Group Newshub, said: "During the Covid-19 outbreak, we see our readers craving for more information. It is an honour to see zaobao.sg as Singaporeans’ most preferred Chinese news website. We appreciate their trust and will continue to strive to provide credible and reliable information. I hope that Zaobao Rewards could make reading news more enjoyable for them as they continue reading zaobao.sg.”

The campaign will run from 15 April to 31 July 2020. In addition to the mobile app version, the web version of Zaobao Rewards will also be launched soon.
