Singapore, 12 June 2020 – Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) is offering complimentary digital news access to healthcare professionals in eleven hospitals as a token of appreciation for their tireless work and dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Starting tomorrow, they can enjoy digital access to The Straits Times or Lianhe Zaobao for six months, after activating their account with a unique redemption code.
SPH reached out to hospitals in Singapore to kickstart this initiative last month. Eleven hospitals – Singapore General Hospital, Changi General Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Sengkang General Hospital, National University Hospital (NUH), Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Jurong Community Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and SingHealth Community Hospitals (which manages Bright Vision Hospital, Outram Community Hospital and Sengkang Community Hospital) – responded, with interested staff indicating their preferred publication of either The Straits Times or Lianhe Zaobao.
Ms Joanna Ong, Manager, NUH Human Resources said: “Thanks to SPH for extending this sponsorship to healthcare workers. We are now able to get news on the go and receive alerts digitally to keep us updated on the latest news. This greatly facilitates and equips us in our line of work. Thank you!”
Mr Eric Ng, SPH Deputy Head of Circulation said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to express our appreciation to our healthcare frontliners during these trying times, helping them stay updated and engaged through our digital products.”
This latest initiative follows SPH’s donation of newspapers, free digital news access, magazines and books produced by the company’s various publications to Covid-19 patients in isolation wards at various healthcare institutions in March, to ease their emotional strain and help them stay connected with the latest news.
