Singapore, 12 July, 2007 - SPH UnionWorks’ Radio 91.3, which is enjoying an explosive growth in audience numbers as the fastest-growing commercial English-language station in Singapore according to the findings of A C Nielsen´s Radio Survey “Wave 1, 2007”, is not letting up.
Its all-stars deejay line-up and exciting programmes will be further enhanced with the new Rod Monteiro and The Married Men show which will launch on Monday (July 16). The three-hour show, which goes on air at 5pm, promises wacky entertainment for after-work listeners and motorists.
Guaranteed to send them home or to dinner laughing, the show will be both local and topical in content in order to relate to the average man, or woman, in the street.
The programme is a tie-up between Radio 91.3 and The Married Men Pte Ltd, a new company set up in June. The partnership marks the first time in Singapore´s radio history that a radio station´s programme is produced by an external party.
The directors of The Married Men are popular radio deejay Rodney Monteiro (more popularly known as Rod Monteiro), Clarence Edwin, who runs a recording studio and Andre Marc Hoeden, who used to work in event management.
While Rod and Andre will banter and exchange jokes, Audrey Lim, their colleague from The Married Men, will read general news including sports and traffic news.
Penning their scripts will be Caroline Mao, also from The Married Men.
Radio 91.3, which plays contemporary music from the Nineties to the sounds of today, will provide the music for the show while The Married Men team will handle the rest — news, skits, jingles, etc.
Mr Jamie Meldrum, Programme Director of Radio 91.3, a radio veteran who honed his skills in deejaying and running commercial radio since his childhood in Australia, says: “After the fantastic ratings results we received in our first Wave Survey since refocusing the station over Christmas we can’t wait to bring Rod and his team onboard and really start to put the pressure on the opposition."
"I’m confident Rod’s show will deliver just the kind of fast paced fun that’s been missing from Singapore Radio and together with our upcoming Promotions which include the chance for listeners to win a trip for 2 to see Justin Timberlake and Good Charlotte LIVE in Los Angeles, the launch of the 91.3 Mercedes Vito Thundertruck, and the return of Petrina Kow to The Morning Show, and the fact that we now never play more than two commercials in a row, we feel as though we’re definitely heading into this next ratings period with our best foot forward,” adds Jamie, who is Singapore’s best-known voice actor.
With the addition of The Married Men team, Radio 91.3 now boasts a line-up of deejay luminaries such as Joe Augustin, Hubert Tang, Jeremy Ratnam, Suzanne Walker, Petrina Kow and Denise Tan who will connect on air with the growing number of Radio 91.3 supporters.

Ratings for Radio 91.3 On Upswing
The Radio Survey “Wave 1, 2007” results as compiled by AC Nielsen have shown a healthy increase in the Total Overall Number, or Cumulative Audience, of Singaporeans tuning in to English Radio Stations in general, and explosive growth for the refocused 91.3FM against its major competitors Class 95, 987FM, and Power 98.
Here´s some of the good news Radio 91.3´s Actual Market Share (%Share) indicates when compared with Class 95, 987FM, and Power 98:
91.3 is now Number 2 station for females in 25-44 age group
Suzanne Walker´s Lunchtime Show BEATS Power 98 in the All People 15-44 Category 10am-2pm (Share% 91.3=11% versus Power 98=9.9%)
Females 25-44 up 18% 10am-2pm
Females 25-44 up 16.5% 2pm-5pm
Females 25-44 up 18.6% 5pm-8pm
Time Spent Listening (TSL) Greater than or equal to Class 95 in all time belts
And when compared against ALL STATIONS:
The Morning Show with Petrina Kow and Joe Augustin now holds equal Market Share All People 15+ with Power 98 7am-10am Mon-Fri (1.7)
All Stations captured higher Overall Audience for almost all time belts, indicating more people tuned in to English Radio Stations, which is great news for everyone.
However 91.3´s competitor stations, especially Class 95, saw declines in their all important Market Share % due to drops in their TSL (Time Spent Listening) and AQH (Average Quarter Hour Listenership), indicating that despite the increase in the overall number of listeners their average number of listeners per quarter hour actually dropped, and those who did listen spent less time with them. 91.3, on the other hand, saw increases in Cumulative Audience %, Market Share%, AQH, and TSL across all time belts, with TSL on par or surpassing that of Class 95 in all time belts.
