Youth Talent Concert(青春展才艺)- Tickets go on sale today! - All net proceeds go to President's Challenge 2007

Singapore, 2 August 2007 - Tickets to the much-anticipated Youth Talent Concert, a charity concert organised by Singapore Press Holdings’ Chinese Newspapers Division go on sale today!

The inaugural Youth Talent Concert 2007 (青春展才艺) aims to promote Chinese culture and art forms through musical or dance performances by an individual or group performers.

Participants who were shortlisted at an audition in July will perform at the Youth Talent Concert on August 31 at the Singapore Conference Hall.

This year, the organiser hopes to raise $100,000 via ticket sales and corporate sponsorships for the annual President´s Challenge. Net proceeds will be donated to the 32 appointed beneficiaries under President´s Challenge 2007.

Mr Seow Choke Meng, Executive Vice President of Administration Division cum Cultural Industry Promotion, Chinese Newspapers Division (萧作鸣先生, 执行副总裁,行政集团兼华文报文化产业部) said: "Chinese Newspapers Division has been supporting the President’s Challenge since 2002. This year, with the Youth Talent Concert, we hope to promote and showcase Chinese art forms presented with a modern twist. We hope this will also nurture the appreciation of Chinese culture and arts and showcase our young talents in Chinese arts."

This year’s concert has already uncovered some new young talents. They include award-winning Chinese cross-talk performer Goh Kah Woon(吴佳恩), young pianist Shen Zi Yang(沈子扬), a modern dance group from Yuying Secondary School (育英中学)and an energetic drum group from Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) (中正中学义顺). Other young talents who will be showcased at the concert include beat-boxer Charles Wong (黄智仁)and acappella group Juz B. More names will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Tickets at $20 each are now on sale. Those who purchase ten tickets and above will enjoy a 20% discount.

Corporations and individuals who want to contribute more generously can purchase limited premium tickets at $500 each.
