Unveiling The World’s Best Wines at the 9th Lianhe Zaobao Wine Review Challenge 2007

Singapore, 3 August 2007 - This year, spirits are set to soar as 376 wine labels from 32 participating wine companies representing over 40 wine producing regions including countries like Chile, Argentina, Germany and Portugal, vie for the top titles in Southeast
Asia´s first and most important wine challenge. The event is organised by Lianhe Zaobao (Singapore´s leading Chinese morning newspaper) and The Wine Review (South-East Asia´s oldest wine magazine).

The Challenge recognises and rewards winemakers who are making the highest quality wines. Judging is based on wine quality and the extent to which the wine is representative of its category. All the wines were judged by a panel of experts who are established names in the wine community during closed door blind tastings on 30 and 31 July at Conrad Centennial Singapore.

The Gold, Silver & Bronze medal winners and the Best Wine in their respective wine categories will be announced at a Prize Presentation cum Gala Dinner on 3 August 2007 (Friday) at Conrad Centennial Singapore, Golden Peony Restaurant, 7.30pm.
By invitation only, it will be a formal, elegant evening of fine food and wines. It will be attended by the “Who´s Who” of the wine community.

The full results will be published in Lianhe Zaobao’s wine supplement on 17 August 2007, and in the Wine Review Annual magazine on 25 October 2007.

Said Mr Ch’ng Poh Tiong, The Wine Review’s publisher and Lianhe Zaobao’s wine columnist, “The Lianhe Zaobao Wine Review Challenge is into its ninth year. The main goal of the Challenge has always been to offer to the wine loving public a solid body of award-winning wines that have been judged as the best in their categories by an expert panel. In providing this invaluable service to the public, the Challenge also recognises, encourages and acknowledges winemakers who are making the highest quality wines. This surely is a win-win situation for both the public and the wine producers.”

Said Mr Lim Jim Koon, Chief Editor, Lianhe Zaobao
