Singapore, 10 December 2007 – Hardware Zone Pte Ltd (HWZ), a subsidiary of SPH Magazines Pte Ltd, is organising a first of its kind art, music and video games festival in Singapore. MusIT! Fest, a Celebration of Music & Technology will be held on 15 December 2007 (Saturday) from 1pm to 7pm at Far East Plaza. MusIT! Fest, spearheaded by HWZ’s gaming and digital entertainment magazine, Gameaxis/L33T, is organised to celebrate the growth of technology in art, music, and video games.

The one day event will include special music and art workshops with Noise Singapore, and a special performance from Syaheed of Bedsty Music. He will be providing pointers and on what it takes to make a hit. He will also highlight the importance of technology in music production and how essential it is for his success thus far.
Creative Artists from home grown success story Mikoishi Studios will strut their graphic design mettle to a live audience. They will provide a run through of their thought process in graphics design highlighting what it takes to do world class graphic arts while showcasing the importance of technology in their works.
The festival will feature one main competition. The "Express Yourself" graphics design competition, where contestants will have to submit their works through Gameaxis.com microsite, http://www.gameaxis.com/microsite/musIT2007. Three finalists will then be chosen, and they will produce their original works in front of a live audience. Special guest judges include local graffiti legend, Phyreman and Jim Khor from Mikoishi Studios for this contest. Against the backdrop of the activities and competitions will be the Graffiti showcase, where 2 graffiti artists will paint on a blank wall for the duration of the entire festival. There will also be an ongoing Nintendo Wii “Guitar Hero 3” contest for the walk-in crowds, featuring attractive prizes for any and all audience members game enough to compete.
While bringing together the seemingly incongruent elements of art, music, and technology may strike some as odd, Jimmy Tang, Editor in Chief, HWZ, thinks otherwise. "These three elements of art, music, and technology really represent the essentials of the lifestyle of today’s youth. This festival will foster healthy competition among and will provide them with a platform to express their creativity," he said.
MusIT! Fest aims to showcase how technology has revolutionalised music production and the arts, making it easier for creative professionals to create and distribute their works to others. Through these activities and competitions, which demostrate how technology can aid in creative expression, the guest artists and musicians hope to inspire budding talents to follow in their footsteps.
Sponsors will showcase their products and organise tutorials to show how their products are connected to music. A turnout of 8,000 to 10,000 people is expected, consisting mainly of music enthusiasts, art appreciators, technology adopters, and gaming enthusiasts.
