Singapore Press Holdings receives “Singapore 1000 – Net Profit Excellence Awards” accolade at the 21st Annual Singapore 1000 & SME 500 Awards

SINGAPORE, 18 January 2008 – Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) has been presented with the Singapore 1000 – Net Profit Excellence Awards (Services sector) at the 21st Annual Singapore 1000 and SME 500 Awards event held on Friday 18 January 2008 at the Shangri-La Hotel. This is the third consecutive year that SPH has won this award. In 2005, it won the highest sales/turnover” award for companies in the services sector.

Mr Tony Mallek, Executive Vice-President, Finance, received the award on behalf of SPH from the event´s Guest of Honour, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Minister in charge of Entrepreneurship.

Mr Mallek said: “We are pleased to receive this award on behalf of SPH as it is recognises our position as the top-performing multimedia group in Singapore. This has come about through strengthening our presence in the core newspaper and magazine business and improving the quality and diversity of our products for our readers and advertisers. We will further consolidate this position as we develop new media platforms in digital and interactive media to connect with new audiences. This award is made possible through the guidance of our board of directors and senior management and the support of our staff and business partners.”

The Singapore 1000 and SME 500 Awards is co-organised by DP Information Group and Ernst and Young with supporting partners IE Singapore, IDA, Spring Singapore and The Business Times.

Outdoor Advertising
In addition, SPH has ventured into outdoor advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore´s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company, and a 35 percent stake in TOM Outdoor Media Group, a leading outdoor advertising company in China.

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore’s main shopping belt. SPH’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, is also developing a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
