About the performers

sodagreen is a 6-member indie rock band from Taiwan. They received nominations for Best Band and Best Arranger at the 17th Golden Melody Awards in 2006. One year later, they were the winner of the Best Band award, and the band’s vocalist Qing-Feng, well-known for his unique voice, also received the Best Songwriter award for the hit song "Little Love Song". sodagreen has released three albums and is the first indie band to hold a concert at the Taipei Arena, where they set the record for holding the longest concert at the venue, lasting a total of five hours.

Jive Talkin’ is a veteran Singaporean band with years of great success. The band has performed together with some of the world’s most famous music makers, including B.B. King, Kenny G, Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine, James Ingram and Def Leppard. The versatile band has a very wide repertoire and can perform anything from old time Rock ’n’ Roll to the current Pop-Rock, Soul, Reggae, R&B, and even Alternative Rock, always leaving their audiences wanting more.

Ngak and the Ang Moh Pais features lead vocalist Ngak with his full-toned voice and uncanny ability to cover songs in his own style, while staying true to the original works. He is a successful singer-songwriter with songs performed by established singers such as pop singer Emil Chau, and is a frequent performer at music festivals. The band also performs regularly at clubs like Timbre and Wala Wala. His most recent hit was "Black May", which was recorded for the 881 movie soundtrack.

The SPH Gift of Music concert series has been entertaining Singapore audiences since its launch in 2005. For the past three years, SPH Gift of Music has brought concerts to the heartlands, parks and school campuses. This year, the concerts will also be brought to the general public at shopping malls.

Just last week, members of the public were treated to two free outdoor concerts by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), at the Singapore Management University on Friday and at Nee Soon South on Saturday.

Jam On is an attempt to include different genres of music to reach out to a wider audience. Besides Jam On, the new season of SPH Gift of Music also includes concerts by SSO, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) and local wind orchestra The Philharmonic Winds.

Ms Chin Soo Fang, SPH’s Head of Corporate Communications, said: “SPH Gift of Music wishes to bring music to the masses, and besides the popular classical concerts by SSO and SCO, we feel that it would be good to treat the audience to some popular music by local talents. Their music deserves a wider audience and we are glad to be able to provide the platform for them to perform to their existing fans, as well as attract new ones.”

In conjuction with Jam On, there will be an autograph session with sodagreen on 22 February 2008, 6.30pm at Chinatown Point.

Radio 100.3FM is the Supporting Radio Station for Jam On.
