Health & You Exhibition 2008 offers more for the health conscious family

Singapore, 5 July 2008 –Following last year´s success, this year´s Health & You Exhibition is back with even more for the health conscious.

Health & You Exhibition 2008 is jointly organised by The Straits Times – Mind Your Body and Lianhe Zaobao – LOHAS with exclusive sponsor AIA Singapore which has supported the Exhibition since its launch in 2005. The focus of the Exhibition this year is “Starting Young”.

This 2-day mega event will be held at Suntec Singapore, Exhibition Hall 402 - 403, on 5 and 6 July 2008 from 10am to 8pm daily, and is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors.

With more than 130 exhibition booths offering a wide range of health and wellness products as well as related services, Health & You Exhibition 2008 is a event not to be missed by all health conscious Singaporeans who wish to receive reliable information on health and well-being matters. Exhibitors will be launching new products and services across the 4220 square metres of exhibition space, where visitors will get to try the latest and newest exercise equipment, health devices, alternative medicine, fitness techniques and more.

In addition, there will be cooking workshops, free blood pressure and glucose checks, as well as back massages for visitors. There will also be an area specially designed for children, and a blood donation drive for first time blood donors.

The exhibition has four interactive concept areas based on the following themes: Live Right, Eat Right, Stay Relaxed and Let’s Play. From 12.00pm to 6.00pm daily, the stage will come alive with entertaining programmes.

More than $20,000 worth of gifts and prizes will be given out in our Shopper’s Draw. Patrons who purchase a minimum of $20 get to redeem a pair of Hot/Cold pads worth $12 and a chance to win the following prizes:

The Guest-of-Honour for the opening of Health & You Exhibition 2008, which is held on 5 July, 9.30am, is Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


1) Live Right
1a) Mitra Healthcare Blood Pressure and Glucose Check
From 10.30am - 6.00pm daily, Mitra Healthcare will be providing complimentary blood pressure and glucose checks for the first 200 visitors each day. A new self-monitoring device called the Duocare, the first 2-in-1 blood pressure and glucose monitor in the local market, will be used to conduct this check.
*Priority given to visitors aged 35 and above

1b) Singapore Red Cross Blood Donation Drive
Singapore Red Cross is calling for first time blood donors to come forward to donate blood and help save lives. From 2.00pm - 6.00pm daily, first time blood donors can experience the donation process following a simple health check upon registration.

2) Eat Right
2a) Health Promotion Board Healthy Cooking Workshop
Health Promotion Board (HPB) will be conducting four cooking workshops daily to teach visitors how to make healthy changes to our daily diet in simple but creative ways. The workshops will be conducted at 12.00noon, 2.00pm, 4.00pm and 6.00pm daily. Tips on nutrition will also be shared.

2b) F&N Special Drink Concoctions
F&N Foods invites visitors to try out specially designed concoctions. Visitors who correctly guess the F&N products used in the concoctions will win prizes. A nutritionist will also be giving tips on how to prepare healthy meals for children during talks and Q&A sessions.

3) Stay Relaxed
Visitors at the "Stay Relaxed" therapy haven will enjoy luxurious pampering and massages from OSIM. Visitors can rejuvenate their mind and body and de-stress by enjoying a soothing body or back massage, or even experience some tummy-thigh-buttock toning.

4) Let’s Play
A special area for children from four to twelve years old, with the following three activities:

4a) Mini Olympics
Two sessions at 11.00am and 3.00pm daily. Children get to experience selected Olympics games and win prizes (courtesy of Nestle) at the Mini Olympics – inspired by the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics. The sports and games include badminton, basketball, bowling, javelin, hurdles and soccer.

4b) Colouring Contest
Two sessions at 1.00pm and 5.00pm daily. Colouring materials will be provided for children to participate in the popular colouring contest where they can win book vouchers.

4c) Design Your Own Bread Workshop
At 2.00pm daily, children can express their creativity by decorating bread with colourful toppings and cutting it into different shapes and sizes.

Stage Programmes
From 12pm to 6pm daily, the stage will be packed with entertaining programmes. These are some of the highlights for each day:

a) Skip-A-Dance contest
19 teams will compete in this competition by performing a dance incorporating skipping techniques. Judging is based on entertainment value, choreography, coordination, costume and originality. Come catch the performances at the following timings:
Semi-Finals Saturday, 5 July 3.00pm – 4.30pm
Finals Sunday, 6 July 3.00pm – 4.30pm

The top 3 winning teams will receive the following:
1st prize $1500 cash
2nd prize $1000 cash
3rd prize $500 cash

b) Healthy “Clone” (Look-alike) Contest
76 pairs of parent and child, and 30 pairs of siblings or cousins will compete to win the most “Look-alike” title.

Parent & Child category: Saturday, 5 July • 4.30pm – 6pm
Siblings/Cousins category: Sunday, 6 July • 4.30pm – 6pm

Prizes for each category
1st prize $500 cash
2nd Prize $300 cash
3rd prize $200 cash

c) The AIA Football Skill Challenge
On 5th July at 1.30pm, visitors can sign up as a pair of footballers to pit their skills against others. Manchester United jerseys and Singapore Flyer tickets will be given to the top 5 winning pairs.
