SPH Buzz Pods Partners Singapore Pools for New Outlet at Sim Lim Square

Singapore, 28 August 2008 – Media-giant Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) is setting up a joint retail outlet at Sim Lim Square with Singapore Pools. The retail space is shared between SPH´s buzz pod, a new generation of newsstand that offers a wide range of lifestyle merchandise; and Singapore Pools, a legal provider of lottery games.

Mr Chua Wee Phong, Executive Vice President of Circulation (SPH) and Director of SPH Buzz, said: “We are delighted to partner Singapore Pools for our new buzz pod at Sim Lim Square. This partnership is in line with our objective of bringing added convenience to our consumers. We look forward to more opportunities to work with Singapore Pools in future. This partnership is just the beginning of many more exciting plans that we will roll out as part of our buzz pod network expansion. ”

Ms Marilyn Ling, Chief Marketing Officer of Singapore Pools added: "Singapore Pools is also pleased to partner with Singapore’s leading media company in this new retail concept at Sim Lim Square. Our Sim Lim Square branch was a first choice venue as it is situated in the commercial business district and attracts working adults who patronise the technology-related shops. The state-of-the-art digital displays of sporting events at our branch will complement the many sporting interest publications offered at buzz pod. Other than offering a legal avenue for customers who wish to have a little flutter, such a partnership will help to strengthen Singapore Pools’ retail network to combat the activities of illegal gambling operators."

Jeremy Ratnam of Radio 91.3FM will be at the new joint retail outlet located at the basement of Sim Lim Square (#B1-37) on Friday, 29 August 2008, 12.30pm – 1.30pm, to meet and greet buzz pod customers.

To celebrate the opening of the new Sim Lim Square outlet, consumers can look forward to a series of exciting joint promotions and giveaways organised by SPH Buzz and Singapore Pools, from 29 August to 14 September, when they shop at the new outlet.
