Tickets to Singapore Entertainment Awards 2010 (新加坡e乐大赏) go on sale from 5 February

Singapore, 2 February 2010 --- Get ready for another star-gazing affair when the Singapore Entertainment Awards (SEA) makes its return on 13 March at The Float @ Marina Bay after its successful debut last year. Tickets to the award presentation cum concert will go on sale from 5 February.

Organised by Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese media Lianhe Wanbao, Radio 100.3, and UW (U-Weekly), the event attracted a 10,000-strong crowd in 2009. The objective of the Singapore Entertainment Awards is to support the Chinese entertainment industry that popularises the use of the Chinese language. Apart from honouring the best talents in Singapore and Asia, it also helps to promote the local and regional Chinese entertainment scene.

This year's event will be bigger and better with 45 awards (from last year's 31 awards) to be presented in 11 categories, including the inaugural TV award category (local and regional). For the first time, the award presentation cum concert will be telecast on Starhub Cable TV after the event at a later date. StarHub is the Official TV for the event.

Winners of the awards, which recognise a spectrum of entertainment ranging from music, movies, TV, radio to concerts, will be announced in early March. The qualifying period for the artistes to be nominated is from 1 December 2008 to 31 December 2009.

This year's event is also supported by Media Development Authority (MDA) with the objective of gaining local and regional exposure for Singapore and offering a performing platform for Singapore's young and emerging talents in the media industry.

Mr Robin Hu, Senior Executive Vice President of Chinese Newspapers & Newspaper Services, SPH, said."Following our successful debut last year, SPH is pleased to have MDA's support for Singapore Entertainment Awards 2010. Together, we hope to strengthen our commitment in giving recognition to the outstanding achievements of both local and overseas artistes through SPH's combined strength in print, radio, outdoor and online platforms. This year, we look forward to achieving greater regional exposure with our broadcast via Starhub cable channels. We believe the awards will contribute towards establishing Singapore as an important market and source of talent for Chinese entertainment."

Mr Yeo Chun Cheng, Director of Broadcast & Music, MDA said: "MDA is pleased to support the broadcast production of the Awards. Through the programme, the Awards aims to reach wider audiences as it is slated to go on local, regional and online channels. MDA would also like to congratulate SPH on the Awards - it is a well-produced event that showcases and honours the achievements of Singapore's media talents, and recognises their impact and influence in the regional entertainment scene."

SEA is co-organised by my paper and supported by SPH print, online and outdoor media including Lianhe Zaobao, Shin Min Daily News, SPH MediaBoxOffice and The Straits Times Razor TV. The other major partners are StarHub (Official TV), Mandarin Oriental Singapore (Official Hotel) and Jeric Salon (Official Hair), with special thanks to the Singapore Sports Council.
