Her World celebrates 50th anniversary with the first ever mobile retail shop by a magazine

Singapore, 4 March 2010 – Her World, Singapore’s No. 1 women’s magazine published by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd (SPH Magazines), celebrates its 50th anniversary with the Her World Glass House – a mobile retail shop that is the first of its kind for any publication in Singapore.

The Her World Glass House will be unveiled on 5 March 2010 (Friday) at Wisma Atria Outdoor Atrium, where it will be open to the public from 11.00am to 9.00pm daily till 25 March. It is the first of many activities in celebration of Her World's 50th birthday.

To kick off the anniversary celebration, Her World will launch a collection of limited edition t-shirts and fashion totes specially designed by three of Singapore’s finest designers – Ashley Isham, Jo Soh and Nicholas Wong – plus the Her World team. For every t-shirt and tote sold, Her World will contribute $5 to UNIFEM Singapore in support of its youth programme.

Ms Elisabeth Gwee, Editor of Her World, said: “It is not every day that you get a magazine in Singapore celebrating its 50th birthday. To mark this milestone event, Her World decided to do something really different – create a mobile retail shop. After all, one of the things our readers love about Her World is our Shopping pages, so this is our way of making the pages come alive for them. We hope they’ll like our specially designed merchandise – they won’t just look good, they’ll be doing good too because UNIFEM Singapore will get $5 of our sales for each t-shirt or bag sold. We look forward to seeing people walking around town in our t-shirts and carrying our bags."

Mr Ashley Isham: “It was a huge honour to design for Her World for its 50th anniversary and I thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration. It was a lot of fun as I enjoyed designing the motifs from scratch and decided to let my imagination run as I was given the full creative freedom to create the motifs. Her World is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and that is a huge achievement for a magazine especially in Singapore. It is still Singapore's number one women's magazine with informative tips for its readers.”

Mr Nicholas Wong: “It is not every day that we get to celebrate one of our nation's most fashion-forward magazines supporting local talents. When the opportunity came, there was simply no reason to say no. It is also my way of saying 'thank you' to Her World for all the support the magazine team has given Nicholas over the past years!”

Ms Jo Soh for Hansel: “I have been reading Her World since I was 12 years old and the magazine has been part of my growing up years. It is an honour to be asked by Her World to design their 50th anniversary merchandise. My random polka-dot tee and bag are all about having and maintaining a sense of simple light-hearted fun, which is part of the persona of the modern day woman who has it all – just like Her World.”
