Singapore, 28 April 2010 – Several of Singapore Press Holdings’ websites have clinched awards at the Asia Interactive Awards 2009 held at the Host@Clarke Quay last Thursday (22 April).
STOMP won a silver for “Best Blog covering Advertising, Marketing or Media Subjects” for its Star Blog section. Straitstimes.com won a bronze for “Best Media Site” while Asiaone was awarded a bronze in the “Ease of Navigation” category.
SPH also clinched two bronze awards in the “Most Creative Use of Mobile Media” category. The wins were awarded to Straits Times RazorTV for its iPhone application, and to local search and directory engine, rednano.sg, for Rednano LOCATE.
SPH’s digital media editor, Mr Felix Soh, said: “It is quite a feat for news websites to clinch four awards in a competition that's dominated by advertising agencies and marketing companies. This shows that SPH news websites are on the right track when it comes to working with advertisers to attract eyeballs. We're connecting with both advertisers and users."
AsiaOne, Straits Times Razor TV and STOMP have been ranked amongst the top ten most-visited websites in Singapore by online research company, Experian Hitwise. In March 2010, there were 6 million unique visitors to AsiaOne, Straits Times RazorTV and STOMP, boosting a total of 88 million pageviews, a record high for the three websites.
Mr Paul Jansen, Chief Executive of SPH Search, the company behind rednano.sg, said: “We've invested in mobile, particularly in our geolocation service, Rednano LOCATE, which gives people instant and detailed information on businesses and services in close proximity to wherever they are, because there's a clear demand for this. The award is gratifying, as is the growing numbers of users of LOCATE, and the expanding pool of advertisers who are turning to us to reach them."
In its fourth year, the Asia Interactive Awards aims to encourage good work by designers and online professionals. The awards will also play a role in helping to develop the use of new technology in advertising, promotion, brand building and consumer relationships.
The Asia Interactive Awards is organised by AdAsia and supported by Asia Digital Marketing Association, Designers Association Singapore, Games Academy Singapore and Singapore Gamers' Association. The submissions were judged by distinguished professionals from both the region and worldwide.
