Beerfest Asia 2010 returns with a bigger toast for beer enthusiasts

Tickets go on sale from 30 April 2010

Singapore, 28 April 2010 – Beer enthusiasts can look forward to savouring over 250 brands of beers from different parts of the world at Beerfest Asia 2010. Some beers are priced as low as S$3. The five-day festival, jointly organised by Sphere Exhibits, a wholly-owned subsidiary and the lifestyle event arm of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), and Beerfest Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Ublues Group, will be held from 16 to 20 June at the Marina Promenade (the F1 tracks behind the Singapore flyer).

Visitors to Beerfest Asia 2010 can also experience “Tribute To Rock” concerts featuring the world-famous all-female AC/DC tribute band “Hell’s Belles”, The U2 Show - “Achtung Baby”, Queen tribute band “Killer Queen”. These international acts will perform alongside popular local bands. Football fans will be treated to a live screening of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa (subject to availability). In addition, all visitors can participate in exciting games and festival activities and tuck into “beer food” from the stalls at the outdoor bazaar.

Some of the exciting rare brews to be featured at the festival include the award- winning EFES beers from Turkey, chocolate-flavoured Imperial Choklat Stout, 1488 Whiskey Beer matured in Tullibardine whisky casks and Hole Hearted which was voted the best bottled beer in Britain, and the Vollmond Full Moon Beer: brewed from organic raw materials only on full moon nights. The Vollmond beer obtains an extra punch having gone through a more intensive fermentation process than normal beers.

The festival area comprises the Live Music Tent which houses the live music performances and exhibitors of more commercial beers; the Live World Cup Tent which features screening of World Cup matches. Visitors who prefer a more intimate beer-tasting experience can choose to chill at the air-conditioned, double-storey World Beers Tent where various beer products and brands from far-flung countries are showcased.

Tickets go on sale from this Friday 30 April 2010 at BYTES Box Office situated at The Arts House (1 Old Parliament Lane) or via website or hotline (65) 6332 6919.
